Intervala Medical Emergency Response Team Achieves Recertification

Congratulations to our Medical Emergency Response Team (MERT) members who completed their biennial emergency safety training last week! The team earned renewed certification on first aid, CPR, AED, fire extinguisher safety and hazardous materials identification. Big thanks to Fire Chief Bill Frye of nearby Jeannette, Pa., for conducting the training.

Our MERT team is the first line of response in the event of a medical emergency at Intervala. Each area of our facility and every shift includes at least one team member to ensure speedy assistance should a coworker be in distress.

Thank you to the caring and dedicated employees who volunteer to serve on MERT, including veteran team members Janet Grzandziel and Sarah Martin (team leaders), Chris Brison, Jason Eddy, Eric Kline, Keith Nelson and Dan Ruggiero, and recent additions Tara Lofstrom and Lori White!

MERT is just one of many committees that Intervala employees can get involved with beyond their day-to-day activities.

Intervala Employees Fight Flu with Free Shots

Let’s shoo away the flu! Intervala employees received free flu shots today without having to leave the building. A RITE AID pharmacist came on site to expertly administer the annual employee benefit. Many thanks to her and to our Human Resources Coordinator Danice McShane for coordinating the event! As you can see from our #FluShotSelfies, this year’s flu won’t make us blue!

Sunshine and Smiles at the 2019 Intervala Picnic

Our amazing employees and their families were all smiles at our annual company picnic, held at the beautiful Pioneer Park in Monroeville, Pa., this past weekend. We kicked off the day with a mouthwatering lunch from Apple Harvest Catering. Mother Nature was on our side this year, delivering beautiful weather throughout the day for the many outdoor events, including the egg-and-spoon relay, “Closest to the Flamingo” long-drive contest, cornhole tournament and an all-ages kickball game. We also enjoyed a few rounds of bingo and, for the third year in a row, top-notch caricature and airbrush tattoo artists from Mike the Balloon Guy.

Congratulations to the day’s biggest winner, Courtney Mikula, who conquered the last round of bingo and the cornhole tournament. And cheers to Dan Ziegler, the long-drive champ, and Courtney Shaffer and Gail Gallagher who also won big at bingo! Special thanks to Intervala’s Employee Association for coordinating this year’s picnic.

Intervala Expands Business with TIAMA with New Product Win and Contract Extension

PITTSBURGH, August 7, 2019—Intervala, LLC, a full-service manufacturer of high-reliability, precision electronic and electromechanical products, announced today that it has expanded its business with TIAMA, the world leader in inspection and quality control solutions for the glass packaging industry. TIAMA’s American subsidiary, TIAMA AMERICAS, has awarded Intervala a new contract to manufacture precision defect-detection cameras for select models of TIAMA proprietary glass container inspection equipment. TIAMA also has extended by two years an earlier agreement under which Intervala provides other related products and systems. Intervala is manufacturing the sophisticated equipment at its East Pittsburgh, Pa, facility.

The complex TIAMA cameras use the high-speed CoaXPress (CXP) imaging interface to detect and transmit high-resolution evidence of hard-to-spot, low-contrast defects in glass container finishes and sidewalls. Intervala will employ its broad range of electronics manufacturing capabilities to produce the cameras for TIAMA. Additionally, with the contract extension, Intervala will continue to manufacture and provide aftermarket support for other glass container inspection equipment. Manufacturers of glass bottles, jars and vials use proprietary TIAMA inspection technology to detect defects in the containers before they are shipped to the user.

“We are delighted to expand our relationship with TIAMA,” said Teresa Huber, Intervala president and CEO. “The award of new business and extension of our manufacturing agreement are gratifying and confirm Intervala’s complete commitment to customer excellence. TIAMA is an innovative and growing global industry leader, and we are honored to serve as their valued manufacturing partner.”
